Hi
I've just ordered an Iphone from the carphone warehouse with O2. The insurance that came with it was £11.99 a month which I thought was rather steep so I didnt order.
I have had a mobile since 1997 and have never bothered with insurance and have never needed it. On a few occasions my mobile has stopped working properly so i have just reverted back to a previous phone.
Now that I am with O2 I wont have an 'old phone' and I guess my new Iphone will be much more expensive than any phone I have had. Now I dont expect i'll loose/break/have stollen my phone as i an v careful but I dont know if it'll just stop working one day (as phones tend to!)
My question is if the phone stops working- will the a warrenty cover this or do i need specific insurance? Does anyone know of any good insurance deals less than the above?

Do you have an "Added Value" bank account? If so most come with mobile phone insurance and you can insure the iPhone at no extra charge
Else £11.99-£13.99 is the going rate for iPhone insurance.0 -
if it was me i would insure it, look around the web cpws insurance aint the cheapest (and i work for them) but a cracked screen or liquid damage on an iphone is £157 through apple0

you have to remember that your 1997 phone was prob very basic so far less like to go wrong. An I phone how ever is an expensive piece of kit that has an array of gadgets.. all of which are costly to repair if damaged. i agree with the above, check your bank and if not shop around, but get yrself covered either way0

As I've replied on another thread elsewhere, I've just spoken to my house ins people and they tell me that an iPhone will be covered on my house hold insurance. However, only if it's lost or stolen outside my home, I'm not covered for damage! There are some days when even my lucky underpants can't help.0

As Damian T says, check with your home insurance provider. Personally, I'm covered for accidental damage on all my stuff, even my personal effects when out and about ie iPhone, laptop etc. This will increase your premium, but I pay less than £20 a month to cover everything I own, that a far better deal than £11.99 a month just to cover your phone!0
