As has been said you can only use it on one machine, however if you perform a major upgrade to the hardware and reinstall win7 the online activation will probably not work and you will have to phone up.
The phone call is free and involves keying in about 25 digits to your phone (this number is generated by your computer) and then keying in the responding 25 digits back onto your computer to activate it.
Worked fine for me when I replaced the Motherboard/CPU/Memory.0 -
