I would avoid charging nearly triple the actual stamp prices once postage is no longer free for magazines. the mags you mention are all under 250g and can go as a large letter for 76p 2nd class. I suspect a lot of us book and magazine sellers will see our stars go down once buyers are faced with postage again, don't make that worse by blatant overcharging.

  • Thanks Soolin (love your avator btw - it's almost like Eric himself is giving me good advice :p)

Ideally, I'd like to stick to my £2.50 set price but offer a "Buy 4 get the cheapest one free" offer. I did that a couple of weeks ago. I sold lots of mags, but found that when I sent the invoices I could not change the final sale price. I had to e-mail every buyer and tell them what the price actually was and explain how to change the final amount on Paypal.

I don't know if there is a way of doing these BOGOFF offers on ebay is there?

I can't think of a way to do BOGOF deals which is a shame as I think it could be a winner. The only way I have ever seen anything like it done, and the wording would have to be careful to avoid ebay issues is to offer a free gift for say every three purchases in one transaction. Then when they pay send them a word document with other mags and say they can have one free. It's not ideal but I can't see how else to do it.

Don;t forget, Eric back on TV in a couple of weeks now :D

Tried to list a DVD just now and it still requires free postage. Hopefully it may change at midday as today is supposed to be all change day for this. Anyone else tried charging for postage in a relevent catagory yet?
  • I've tried in CD's, Books and games and it won't let me list either :(

Some art magazines are pretty heavy - I sold some copies of Love and that thing weighed a TON.

Also been on eBay forum and they are saying it might kick in at 4pm (midnight PST in the US) but it's not really professional of eBay as they should have stated a time for it to come into operation.

Since when have ebay ever changed a policy that has worked first time on schedule?

    Expectation management requires some reviewing.

Still waiting... I hope the 4pm guess is right, and agree it's just unprofessional of them to not give a time.

It may be a slight improvement, but the limits are still a bad compromise. I'm selling a 2kg+ textbook. How can I post that with a £2.75 limit and not make an immediate loss of £4.31? Ok, I just add £4 to the start price, but that immediately puts off buyers...
