Hi regret,
Just to reiterate the person who said your mortgage seem expensive; start shopping around early when you are ready to change in August. I've got an 85k mortgage and I pay 470 pm.
Being married is a huge life change so don't feel bad about it seeming weird! Have you got a good set of friends that can help you - I've just moved in with my chap and found it really hard not seeing my girlfriends as much.
Good luck

Never paid council tax due my working life etc, but is there not a free period of no CT soon, Feb/Mar time (sorry if not, like I say never paid it so may be wrong)??? If so that would free up £84 of your SOAHere to learn and pass on my experiences.
Had a total of £8200 of debt written off due to harassment during 2010 and 2012.0 -

Hi, I am new on here so I can't really give much advice on handling debt at the moment. But I was in the same place as you 7 months ago, 25 female good job and a really bad gambling habit. It all got too much at one point and I just broke down and told my OH everything. I still thank the stars every day that he stuck with me and gave support. You have done the hard part by admitting to yourself that you have a problem ( I know telling other people seems harder, but it will make the road to recovery so much easier). Do not beat yourself up over this, you’re not stupid! This can happen to everyone. There are placed to help you, Gamcare online or GA (if there is one near you). Don’t beat yourself up over slips just try and look at the positive of how long you have gone without a bet. There is a thread on here about gamblers in debt, I can’t post the link but if you search you’ll be able to find it.LBM = 28/1/10 Total Debt = £3500

thanks, i cant believe there is someone in the same boat as me. what a pair we are! i have been on the GA website and have taken part in a webchat so that was helpful.
i am getting there slowly!
let me know how you get on too!

I know! It is amazing how many people are in the same boat, it is good in away beause it helps with talking about it. the Main bit of advice i have been given is do not go chasing your losses, that money is gone! The only way that your going to get out of this is to forget about the losses, not completey mind you as you will allways need a reminder of why you can't go back to gambling.LBM = 28/1/10 Total Debt = £3500

i think thats what ive done and got more and more into trouble. ive really learnt a lot about myself, i never had myself down for someone who would gamble ive always been such a 'good girl' did well at school and uni, etc, got a good job.

You need to first tackle the mortgage. I'm not sure what other 'bills' you are behind on - electric/council tax? that sort of thing?
Can you try and make a plan of how to pay things back - ie how much you can afford to pay back the mortgage each month etc - at least if you have some ideas you can try and tell your husband that you want to tackle it and aren't just expecting him to sort it out.
