The lads mags were cleared up that same day! hehehehehe (I had tried to talk to him before, but he 'didn't see the problem'. Well, not until the shoe was on the other foot!).0 -

I do want to volunteer, but he says I cant as it is a waste of time. I was thinking of joining a slimming club or similar.
WHAT??? He says you 'can't volunteer? Does that mean he won't LET you volunteer??
And he compares you to 19 yo women and says no man would want you???
How dare he! What a pratt. You need to get yourself all fired up with indignation and from what you tell us you are already doing fine along the road to independence. It is the drip drip drip of low level disparagement and criticism that wears us down into believing we are valueless.
But you seem to be doing all the right things so far, taking the right steps, and gradually your self esteem and confidence will return. Whether you split up or whether he gets more respect for the new you and your marriage is revitalised, either way you are going to be a stronger and happier person.
Good luck, and keep on keeping on.0 -
