Please help- man serviced boiler on fri now it's broken!!!

On Friday I had someone from a Worcester approved company to service my boiler. He replaced some o rings, according to the invoice, and we paid him £111 in total.

But I've just been woken up by the boiler attempting to fire up. The beatings come on due to temp (16 degrees c) and the pilot light then either comes on and goes out or it can't get it going at all. Had to turn off heating because i've just watched it do that for 5 mins continuosly...

Help!! It all worked fine for 1.5 yearS before and we just thought it was time to have a look at due to a mysterious leak (see prev thread)

I've not tried hot water yet but will in the morning.

I need to call the company obviously and on fri they said all their work in guaranteed for 1 year but what if they come out and deem that this isn't their fault and want me to pay more?

I had to check because it was bugging me - pilot seems to come on and stay on ok for hot water

can't get Heating to stay on using hot water, when i turn off hotwater the heatig light flashes off and on again and pilot goes out, then keeps trying to come back on

You need to call them and get them back to sort it out. It could be a coincidence but that seems very unlikely.
If you post the model then someone might be able to give more advice about the possible fault.

maybe the engineer closed a few values from under the boiler next to the pipes and forgot to open them fully.

. A boiler service is no guarantee that a fault will not subsequently occur. If it is nothing to do with the boiler maintenance why would you not expect to pay. It would be down to bad luck, if a fault occurred just after a service visit.

I have sadly had this scenario in the past. A couple of times it has been my fault forgetting to replace leads onto connectors etc. I always own up, apologise for the inconvenience caused and don't charge.

We are all human after all.

Other times it has been bad luck and coincidence that another part has failed.

I am lucky in that I have a good trust built up with my standing customers and they know I will always be fair an honest. That's how I get so much word of mouth recommendations.

Hopefully the company who came out will have the same morals!

If someone makes a mistake, owns up and fixes it as soon as they can then it shouldn't be held against them.

Of course it could be a coincidence and totally unrelated.

The man from the company came back today and said nothing was wrong but now the boiler is back to normal so it feels a bit like he was just covering himself.....

They didn't try and charge us

Indeed.... the cold this morning was so horrific... I thought I was in the arctic...

OK maybe that's an exaggeration but my heating's never broken before!!

    Thanks guys :)
