Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get an adapter to hook up a freeview ready tv via aerial socket (looks like a telephone socket that they have put in where the original TV arial was)?

There may well be one, but it will not work.

You need an aerial for Freeview.

What you want to do causes noise onto the network which can affect other users, particulary on Broadband. This can be traced back to you & you then risk prosecution for Theft of Service.

And no,you cant get freeview off cable.

Theft of WHAT service? Analogue Terrestrial TV? That's free in any case, and 'stealing' what comes over the air anyway is not theft. Indeed many councils insisted that in areas where TV aerials are banned, cable networks permit the reception of 1-5 channels recievable without a decoder box.

That said, Virgin do not re-broadcasr Freeview in a format usable by digital TV's, it requires a reghisteredd VM box. You can still recieve 1-5 in nicam stereo (on RF analogue) but this will be switched off soon.

Analogue or FM radio service & VM do NOT allow reception of 1-5 without a STB,certainly not over here.
