NOW CLOSED Newcastle 3 year bond, 4% with 90 days notice to withdraw

Did the online application last night, with the DD going out on the 24th.
I just phoned them and was told that they would honor my application, even though in the small print it says that they can close the bond if they have not received the funds on the closing day.
I also have a DD set up for the 24th and received the same information that they would honour the account0 -
Good to hear so many site users and fellow moneysavers managed to open this account.:beer:0

Just a heads up to the fact that the bond now appears (as of 1st March) to be closed for deposits. I know the bond was closed to new applicants a few weeks ago but existing holders could continue to deposit into the fund - but no longer!0

I was surprised just how long the bond stayed open for additional deposits.0

Me too, I was feeding in cash daily via faster payments but the last batch was rejected on 2nd March.0

And to think I used a CHAPS payment (2 weeks ago) to make sure I funded the bond before it closed.
Nationwide refused to send the CHAPS as I had put Newcastle as the recipient and my account number as the reference. It took four days, several phone calls and secure emails before they agreed to send it. Boy was I angry.
They did though, as a goodwill gesture, wave the CHAPS fee. I should flippin think so too.
Each time I rang Nationwide, I got a call centre from a different part of the UK and was passed from pillar to post.
When I phoned Newcastle, I dealt with one person who couldn't have been more friendly.0
