My sky broadband is getting cut off on the 22nd Jan (Yes you read that right, it hasn't happened yet, so need to sort this quickly).
I am looking to get a new provider, but don't want to shell out loads. (don't we all? lol)
Can't and won't go with Virgin... way too expensive and owe them.
My line can only handle 6mb max connection, but I need unlimited downloads due to the kid's playing on xbox live.
Any suggestions?
At the mo, I'm thinking TalkTalk...

What LLU providers are available to you?
If O2/Be is available I can recommend them.0 -

Having had a look... I think you might be right about O2, i'm already on O2 mobile, so that looks to be the cheapest for the speed without limitations.
And using the newsletter this week, have opted for Primus Saver for landline.
They should be able to work together, shouldn't they?Raising awareness for Pancreatic Cancer UK and Macmillan... doing a sponsored 10k skydive for both charities.

Who do you pay your line rental to at present? If the line is already LLU'd to Sky, you can't use it for O2 (or any other ISP) until you have returned it to the BT network.
There is no such thing as unlimited downloads, every ISP has a FUP in the contract. What matters is how they enforce that policy. No free lunch, and no free laptop

My current line is with Sky, but as I said they cutting it off and the line will be de-tag from Sky when they actually cut it off. They sent me a letter a week or so ago telling me I would be disconnected on the 22nd. They haven't done it yet and i'm expecting to disappear very very soon. My TV has already been disconnected, so just waiting for the phone side of things to go.
Then I will be free of everyone and should be able to move to anyone I please.Raising awareness for Pancreatic Cancer UK and Macmillan... doing a sponsored 10k skydive for both charities.

But surely then you won't have a working line (if it's a Sky LLU). To get another ADSL provider you need a working BT line, so you'd have to pay for a reconnection. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Why are Sky cutting off your line, is it at your request or for non payment?0

Hi Saucy77,
If Sky have placed a cease command on your line then no other provider will be able to take over the service until this command is removed. BT Openreach will be completing the cease at Skys request and they can only have one open order progressing at any one time. It sounds as if you line will be completely ceased meaning that you would incurr new line fees with your chosen new provider. If you did want to move to TalkTalk and your line was stopped or ceased the instalation cost would be £59.99 and it will take around 4 weeks for your broadband to be activated.
Cheers

You should not ask for a cancellation but call BT and ask for a "return to donor", you risk losing your number if you do it this way and incurring extra costs. Cancel the cancellation with Sky, call BT and they will arrange the move back to them, when the move has been done sign up to O2. You will have a period of no broadband while this happens.
Remember when you are back at BT you will be subject to a 12 month contract for line rental only, you are free to get broadband from anyone.0
