Sky just wont cancel my phone line....HELP

Options
I moved house last week,. a week before I moved I phoned sky to cancel my tv, phone and bb.
I couldnt give them any more notice as thats when we exchanged contracts.

My old landline is still ringing my my old number ( I couldnt take it with me) So the person who bought my house could in theory plug there phone in and use my number and make my bill massive!!

I have rang sky each day to try and get a block on it at least until its cut off , but they just pass me to one person after another and i get no where. What shall I do? I dont want someone elses phone calls on my bill. I couldnt give them the 31 days notice as I didnt know when i was moving....

Stop paying the bill. They'll cut you off pretty damn quickly then.

Back in the day when I had massive debts I had to cancel all my direct debits so they phoned me up to ask why I hadn't paid the bill and I told them I had no money. The rather rude and surly woman said that I had to give them a month's notice and so told me she was turning my service back on. "thankyou very much!" I said and watched sky for another month... still never paid them though.

All seems to be well now though as they said they'd write off what I owe them if I came back to them! Perhaps I will one day. lol

When I rang up to cancel my Sky package by giving 30 days notice they informed me that my phone line would be terminated immediately and that I wouldn't evenbe able to make emergency calls.

Suggests you talk to cancellations again.
  • I have cancelled my direct debit but the last payment went out 20th jan. I will ring again tommorow and see whats going on...

If youre on the basic Skytalk, i would ring them tonight as calls will be
free until midnight. During the day tomorrw it costs a fortune on a
    0844 number.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

If you can't give them one months notice then you still have to pay for a month after you give notice, whether you've left the property or not. But of course they should terminate your service by the time you leave.
