We went to Anna Maria Island, Florida. We got a 3 bed villa half price (haggled with the vendor as they had 13 nights available, so it was awkward for them to get rid of), waited for the flights to get as cheap as possible, and booked car hire and sweet-talked the assistant to upgrade us from a Toyota Yaris to a Chrysler convertible for an extra £100 for 2 weeks. So it was a true MSE Honeymoon which cost us £2000 for 2 weeks in April last year - which were the most amazing of my life!

I have to say, it's so dependent on so many factors; how much do you have to spend, where have you been before, do you want to be in a hotel or do you want to do self-catering, what time of year are you going etc.

You'll have a fabulous time wherever you choose, I'm sure :)

my daughter got married last year, and was lucky enough to get her honeymoon as a present from her grandma,. she could choose anywhere in the world and she picked................................Sutherland, in the north of Scotland. They had a wonderful time, good weather, good food, but best of all peace and quiet and time alone together, after the madness of the wedding arrangements,

Exactly our thinking too :D OH was all for a week in the sun until we got planning and realised we wanted to spend the money on the day itself and with all the planning the idea of having to arrange all the details with flying out somewhere, the idea of a quiet cottage and a proper 'rest' became all the more attractive!
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:
  • Its very difficult to make suggestions without knowing a bit more about:

    1. How much to have to spend; and,
    2. What you want from it, i.e. do you want to kick back and relax or do you want to get out and explore / see stuff, or a combination of the two?

We're going to be "just another pair of honeymooners" in the Maldives (in 21 days time )
