Honeymoon Suggestions?

I realise I should probably ask this in the holidays section but I'd much rather ask you wedding experts :). Right the weddings all sorted but I've been put in charge of the honeymoon. I'm looking for somewhere warm but different as well as being safe and hassle-free. Obviously not somewhere like Burma...

Anyway I wholly welcome all suggestions and advice

Cheers

  • We're going to a lovely looking 5* spa hotel in turkey for 2 weeks.
Didn't want to be "just another honeymooner" in the maldives etc.

I don't want all the hassle of airports etc after our wedding so we are going to a cottage in Devon with a big open fire, 150 yards from a pub with no phone or internet! Bliss!!

EGYPT...guanteed sun!, great beaches, perfect sea and diving, amazing hotels and great people. Sharm el Sheikh area is best.
Look into it...worth it and would be perfect honeymoon i'd say :)

Fuerteventura - is good but it can be a bit quiet or Lanzarote or Gran Canaria.

Depending on your budget you could try Phuket or look as far as Oz. Avoid the Dominican Republic as it is like a prison camp as you cannot really venture off your hotel complex.

The Channel Islands are pretty good as are The Scilly Isles.

hmm - i have to agree, my sister went there for her honeymoon and had a horrific experience! Similar to the above but much worse - mugged, abused by stall holder(s) and many problems with the hotel and food. Sure there are people who have had a wonderful time, and there must be many redeeming features (of course!) but have to say, i know of three people who wouldn't go back!

I too am trying to decide what to do about honeymoon at the moment so shall look forward to reading more answers!!
Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

    We're going to lalalanzaroteeee lol

We booked it the other day, travelling on the Monday after the wedding (which is the Saturday)

We went there in 2007, just the 2 of us and loved it, and to be honest, there are loads of places we'd rather go to, but the funds won't stretch far enough, so we're happy!

It's only costing £550 for the week (we paid £100 deposit, rest to be paid on 9th August, that was with Monarch holidays) ~ my Aunty and Uncle who are our witnesses have booked too, but they are going for 10 days.

We love them to bits, so we don't mind at all and it's not like we'll be sleeping in the same room is it?

We're thinking Belize in South America. It's English speaking, which we wanted as we didn't want to be struggling with languages. It's got rainforest and beaches. We're going November time to miss Hurricane season, although we might not miss the rain.
