Android is shortend to Droid

maybe so, but that doesnt make it right and anyone in the industry would not do so.
Droid is a licenced name used by Motorola under a trademark of Lucas Films, and not used as a general term for Android by the manufacturers.

Anyone working for HTC would know this. However, with this particular trademark, you really need to be very careful of the usage of related domain names. On the bottom of Droid-related pages on Verizon Wireless’ website, there is a legal notice, “DROID is a trademark of Lucasfilm Ltd. and its related companies.”
By registering domain names with the term “droid” in it, you will probably be stepping on the feet of Verizon, Motorola, and Lucasfilm.====0 -

No one is making profit from it. I think you're being slightly pedantic about it.0 -
Surprised no-ones said "These aren't the Droids you're looking for" yet, lol.

I visited a 3 shop today and this offer is still on, available in stores (but sign up online for Quidco - this works out at the equivalent of £19/month)0
