Good morning: follow manufacturer's servicing specs....these vary from appliance to appliance, brand to brand... costs varies as well. A generic spec from the HHIC here.

Cardew - what i meant was when BG sell you a contract and a service to manufacturers specs is not done but rather an 'inspection' when the customer might think they were paying for a 'service'.

    Hi,
Firstly I am not with BG and haven't been for about 3 years because

    A. They were getting too expensive.

    B. I kept getting letters saying parts were not available etc etc

    C. 'B' above was followed up by a call BG sales team offering to replace my boiler at about double the going rate.

    D. I want a condensing Boiler like I want a hole in the head. With the faults everyone seems get(mainly electronic) IMO many are 'not fit for purpose'!!

That said, I keep hearing that BG only 'inspect' and do not give a proper service and from my experience it is simply not true.

If you have a service contract with BG, and they don't service the boiler correctly which causes it to break down, they have to repair it at no cost to the customer.

So it simply is not in their interests to skimp on servicing.

I am certainly not recommending BG's servicing package and a good reliable RGI fitter is IMO far better.
