Very dry skin on the face.

If money is no object, Clinique Moisture Surge is definitely the way forward. If you have really dry skin, you will feel much more comfortable straight away and that feeling of relief will last.
If you're on a budget, try Simple. The initial feeling of relief when you apply it won't last as long, but it's still a good (cheaper!) product.
Both products will show results given enough regular usage, but the Clinique one will make your skin feel better more quickly. It really depends on how dry your skin is, as to whether you think you can justify splashing out on the £40 pot or the under a fiver alternative.

Hi
I suffer badly in the winter with dry flaky face skin and I use Clinique Superdefense triple action moisturiser and it's fantastic. It works from the first time you use it, is non greasy and feels great on your face! I suffer from eczema and find it great!
I also use Clinique Superbalanced make up as my foundation and that works well too.
Cheers
Casper

Simple Derma cream!!!!!!!!!!! I just discovered this the other day, its £2ish for a 50ml tube so try it out. My skin was so flakey before but now its nearly 'normal'!x0

Use Lucas' Papaw ointment at nighttime. Works a treat and is under £4! I used it for a rash on my face and it cleared it up overnight!
Also Clarins Santal oil is brilliant, but a little pricey - but you only need a few drops! (Used to work for them, and it is fantastic)
Also using a milk or cream cleanser and removing with tissues or cotton wool is better than using a wash off one as different water types can irritate the skin.0 -
If money is really really no object then try dermalogica skin hydrating booster.
It can be used on its own, mixed with a moisturiser or applied under your regular moisturiser.
It is VERY expensive but it only takes one or two drops to do the upper half of my face which is where I suffer with REALLY dry skin (flaky, peeling and sore)0 -

Thanks in advance.x
I used to have this problem. I don't anymore but have done several different things.
Changed my moisturiser to one that was not so dense and lower in man made additives which I felt had dried out my skin (made my skin feel great until I stopped applying then would my skin would be so tight until I reapplied- it was like a moisturiser dependancy issue!)
Started taking Omega 3 + 6 oils. I do think this helps -it helps me anyway.
Used an exfoliant 3 days a week. I had trouble finding the right one, Dermalogica do something called a Microfoliant wich is very fine and works very well. Mild enough to use every day and it lasts for ever! (or atleast a very long time) too many exfoliants are too harsh and scratch up your skin which itself can leave you with dry skin or red skin in the longer term. Using a cotton muslin cloth also helps.
Use a cleanser after the exfoliant- gets your skin really clean and also does a top job of removing dead skin cells and dry skin.
Applying a moisturiser in small amounts. If you apply too much your skin wont "drink more" it simply dries off in the air and leaves a residue behind.0 -
Aldi`s moisturiser is very cheap & has come out well on independent market research tests.0

Olive oil works a treat but I can appreciate that it is not cosmetically acceptable to most so save it for your limbs instead. Try BioOil instead, you'll wake up with soft and hydrated skin.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I like Clarins face creams. They do several different ones for the face but their intensive day cream is great. Not cheap but its a great product and will last for ages.
I find with all the Clarins stuff it goes much further than cheap stuff. I ran out of Clarins handcream and used Avon stuff for a few weeks and had to put about 4 times as much on.0 -
One question which I haven't seen answered in a skim read is what you are using to cleanse your face? Are you using soap or something too drying at that point?Signature removed for peace of mind0
