Why cant I see peoples avatars

I notice within threads people commenting on pretty babies,dogs in other peoples avatars but when I look there is nothing there just basic join date etc.
Why is this please,do I need to click on something to show them?.

You need to go to user CP then edit options and tick the box to show avatars

Can you see them yet?! I had the same problem before I asked why I couldn't see them.

I have avatars hidden because I find them distracting, but I used to be able to click on someone's "view public profile" and this would show their avatar - useful if someone mentioned it as per the OP. However now I find that the profile no longer contains the avatar pic. This means if I want to see one I have to enable them all in my own profile, then disable again when I've finished. It's too much trouble so I tend not to bother!

Any chance of putting it back to how it used to be?
