Seller adding p+p refusing to send the case now!

I have won a CD for 99p with p+p listed as "sellers standard rate free". I have gone to pay but she has already beat me with an invoice for £1 added postage. Iv sent her a message asking to revise the invoice but im not sure what to do so that i dont get a "non paying" strike against me? Thing is, she has over 2500 feedbacks and is regularly selling cds so should i just pay it and shut up?

She is now saying that she knows the rules but its stated within the listing and when i checked it was hidden amongst some dodgy HTML coding that she obviously hasnt got right so that its difficult to see and it says there that if you want the free postage, it will be sent in just a plain envolope with no cd case!!

What shall i do?

You should be able to remove the postage element if you click on pay now through checkout, so pay the item cost and you avoid the NPB. Then when payment gets returned with a request for more money email the seller to say that you are 'disappointed that she is refusing to sell', don't threaten and don't mention feedback.

Give that a few days and then neg the seller.

Depends on how much of your life you want to spend arguing over £1. You could pay the pound and then neg her. Or you could refuse ask her to cancel the sale. Or you could spend a lot of time on it and file a complaint with eBay. If I wanted the cd, I would do the first.

I do want the cd but the things is, its an old pop trash cd ( i love it shamefully!) and others are selling it for 99p with free p+p, i only went with her cos it was ending soonest.

Soolin, i have tried paying through ebay etc and there is no option to modify the price or anything. I have asked her to resend the invoice but shes not replied. It is 9.30pm. And a Saturday night. And im moaning about a quid.

B*gger me, i need to get out more...

  • Hi Soolin I can't change the postage on mine so that I only pay the item price. should I report it to eBay to get them to sort it??

I'd be happier if you could find a way to pay so you can avoid an NPB, but yes I would be reporting it to ebay as a last line of defence.

You can pay directly via paypal. Go to make a payment. Then it should give you some choice to pay for an ebay item. You'll get some blurb about paying in ebay ignore that. You should be able to pick from a list of what you have bought so just pay that way. (you need to pick the ebay sale to be sure its associaiated with the ebay sale so you are covered via buyer protection.
  • This "free P&P" has been an absolute disaster for Ebay! It's not working in any way or form whatsoever. As above, sellers (particularly casual private sellers) don't understand why they can't charge P&P so they "hide" it within the listing or they find somewhere where they can list P&P. I'm absolutely narked off looking through the wholesale job-lots which are now polluted with single items just so postage can be charged.

Also, as a seller, I can no longer offer a discount for multiple purchases & international buyers are no longer interested as the seller prices have been increased to include the "free P&P".

The sooner they get it back to a capped limit the better & stop all this confusing nonsense. It wouldn't be too bad if it was policed properly!

That's an easy one, take a look at the number of threads in the past about 'excessive post and packing'. The easiest way to punish sellers, or to bring them into line and not get stupid with their p and p charges is to ban them from charging them at all.

Sellers being stupid and trying to bend rules just make it harder for the rest of us.
