My parents did the painted toybox with their names too it's practical as well as personal. Other ideas are a mini table and chair, a blackboard, a c.d player (I bought one for 13 pounds in Tesco the other day) and some baby music and story or rhyming c.d's for her room at night. A child's armchair or a sandpit. A small bookcase for her room (I just spent the morning customising a pine bookcase for my daughter to match her room it cost 22 pounds including paint and Disney Princess stickers).
Hope that helps0 -
highland wrote:Like the idea of the toybox, for her 1st birthday in a few weeks we have got Little Miss Highland a necklace with a star on it because she is our "little star" http://www.laurenrose.co.uk/acatalog/D_for_Diamond_Sterling_Silver_Diamond_Star_Pendant.html more of a keepsake really.
I will really have to learn how to do the links properly, sorry.
I was looking at this range, they have it in Beaverbrooks. The one I like is http://www.laurenrose.co.uk/acatalog/D_for_Diamond_Sterling_Silver_Twinkle_Twinkle_Locket.html
(I don't know how to do links either :rotfl: ). I'm just not sure how she would get along wearing it, she would want to chew it all the time  .
I've just been out for lunch with M&D to a garden centre type place. I was telling mum the ideas you all have shared and she seemed to love the toybox idea but we just won't have the room for it until the extension is done, that won't be until christmas so we'll have to hold fire on that one. Maybe we could try to find some place to store it?
I also mentioned about books and she promptly went to the book section and bought DD 3 to keep at their house when we're visting, but she's allowed to use them now. Thought we were trying to buy birthday presents .
She also liked the Tiffany teething ring idea, have seen a couple on ebay but am never sure of their authenticity. Has anyone ever bought any Tiffany from ebay? Can't get on Tiffany.com, it's down for some reason. Will try later.
The only one I mentioned that she went quiet on was the premium bonds. So I think it may be a toybox or a teething ring. Will keep looking...........0 -

I know you are trying to get away from the bangle idea. But my parents bought me a gold bangle just after I was born. They had it made so it was adjustable. They let me wear it on special occasions as I grew up so it is always associated with happy memories. I treasure that bangle now and I can still wear it!!!Proud Mummy to Leila aged 1 whole year:j0
