We've just had our windows done. We had five windows (three with two panes of glass, one opening and two with two panes of glass, one opening)- two were large, front composite door, back double glazed door and window turned into French doors. We had a quote from Anglian,he didn't bring any door information, he didn't give the quote to us until the next day and that was only because we phoned him twice and then phoned his boss. Needless to say we didn't use them.
We had Everest here who before discounts quoted £19000! then dropped it to 10000. We went with a company that works in our local area and paid £5500. I was petrified as we'd used Everest before and they had had to come back to our house and refit the entire lot of windows so I was really nervous. The company that we had were so professional and couldn't have done a better job. I wouldn't just go by names.

We had a similar experience with Anglian, the sales guy was very un-prepared. We signed up thinking its a big company and a professional job will be done by them.

All I am going to say is never never never never again.

It took 5 months of wrangling to try and get the work completed to our satisfaction.

2 of our Friends used a company called safestyle windows, they were very satisfied.

However I can't recommend them because I have never used them personally.

Its just hit and miss

But I would say one thing from experience, and that is don't pay them fully until you have inspected the work a few times because each time we inspected it we spotted things like chips and cracks

I think that because of the huge amount of advertising that the big companies do. People tend to forget that there are thousands of small local companies around. You have only to look at the number of vans that you see on the roads to realise this. With that many companies in competition it stands to reason that they have to be very competitive with their pricing. Also, if there is a problem you can go and drain down over the owner.
