Looks as if Dixons has put the console back upto 272pounds.

Drat, was dragging my heels on deciding whether to buy it or not !!!

Hi Granny Bear. If it helps, (which I'm sure it won't I'm kicking myself just as hard), as I was dithering over this. To be fair it is still a good deal :-) (PS - Thanks Totoriko for explanation over Egg)

They have changed the description now on PCWorld. It states the item as "MICROSOFT XBOX 360 FULL CONSOLE WITH WIRELESS CONTROLLER"

and the items added to product box states:
Microsoft 360 Wired MS 360 Wireless Pad"

I should have the old page in my cache at home that states 'additional memory and wireless controller' and will try the old misadvertised product approach/trading standards. Will let you know how I get on.

The reason I was dithering in the first place was because I keep coming across a significant number of complaints to do with the console around overheating problems, (and if you use xbox live), problems with the clarity of the headset.

Microsoft deny that this is a problem, and I guess that is true as not everyones xbox 360 is melting before their eyes. It does look like there are plans to use a different processor which would essentially generate less heat:

More importantly, I hope that after or around christmas, (when the Playstation 3 emerges), Microsoft will reduce the price of their consoles and will have manufactured a new version of xbox that has addressed the current issues.

(Sorry for the "long" comment, but I hope you find this useful background info )

Right, have called them up to tell them I'm missing the extra wireless controller and memory card.

Customer Service guy just said he'd emailed head office (or something) requesting they despatch the items, and that if there was a problem they would call me back.

He recommended I call back by Monday if I'd not heard anything.
The extra pad and memory card will come in handy, I nearly bought one at the weekend!

I had my X360 for less than 24hrs before it died on me! MS offered to repair it but I got a refund. IMO there are a great deal more problems with 360's than MS is letting on and wouldn't be surprised if a new model isn't on the shelves when PS3 hits!

Was this bought from PCWorld or Dixons, Bought mine from Dixons on Sunday Got it today, was amazed at the speedy Delivery.

If it wasn't bought from Dixons, do the ones from Dixons have the same entitlements, If so who do I ring and what do I say when complaining.

    Thanks

*Strokes the newness of the 360* :D

    mine was from pcworld.

Just call their main customer service number, and just politely ask 'I've just received the xbox 360 I've ordered, but I'm missing the extra wireless controller and memory card that should have been in the delivery'

I've just took a call from PCWorld, they're organising shipping of the wireless controller and vouchers to the value of the memory card.

Fantastic. Can't really fault them as I didn't expect to get them especially with needing so little effort. The vouchers will go towards a game or something as I'm not sure I need a memory card!

    Played, PCWorld.

Oh, sorry I'm not sure about Dixons. Depends on what the description of the item you bought was (the PCWorld description definately suggested you get an additional wireless controller and memory card with it) and you may struggle without a screenshot of it.
