  • I've tried Tesco and Asda. Asda's prices were good, but, I ended up with no paperwork so had to 'guess' everything was there. I tried a few more times to be fair and ended up with torn packets etc. The chaps were nice but it was all thrown into bags and just not what I would have done had I done it myself.

Soooo I now use Sainsburys. I am very happy. I shop every 2 weeks so the delivery is always free (mid week delivery). Tesco would prob be a bit cheaper - but for a few pennies to me its really not worth it. I like sainsbury and have now found my way around the online thingie.

We are also on a very tight budget so I use the value range of veggies (who cares what an onion or carrot looks like)?
I also use frozen veg as for 2 of us that works out a lot cheaper (no waste - the chunky mixed veg was £1 a bag). I make use of the offers and have packs of things stored under the bed (a years supply of washing stuff from when it was half price)....

Loved Ocado but phew they are expensive.

We are both disabled & just no way we would get round the shop anymore so home delivery is a godsend and thank you thank you everyone involved.
  • I shop on-line with Ocado and rarely venture into a "real" supermarket.

As far as I can recall, there has only been 1 substitution in over 2 years. To their credit, they also managed to deliver here during the recent bad weather.

Everything is fresh - the shelf life is listed on the web page so that you can choose items to suit your exact requirements. The receipt also give info on the shelf life of the fresh food items.

They have special offers and own brand products. Prices? For what I buy, it's on a par with Tesco. Okay, there isn't any uber-cheap loo paper or 29p baked beans, but that's not the end of the world and I've found other brands that I now consider to be better value. I tailor my choices to suit the budget and don't spend any more at Ocado than I would elsewhere - yes, really! My OH is also a fan of Ocado - praise indeed!

Orders are picked and packed in their state of the art warehouse and your items haven't been prodded and poked by countless other shoppers. (There are 2 videos on YouTube that show Ocado's warehouse in action.)

If you ever need to claim a refund for any item then it's easy to sort out.

There are lots of Ocado shoppers on the MSE forum so you might consider giving their delivery service a try.

  • Use Sainsburys for a big monthly shop - midweek delivery free if over £100.

I like the one hour delivery slots they do, and so far they have been on time. Once they called to ask could they deliver a bit early. Great service, and no complaints with substitutions - have had hardly any, and they bring them to your notice first thing.
