Vodafone PAC - Phone Cut off - Is this correct?

I wonder if anyone can help. I requested a PAC earlier this month for my Vodafone contract, preparing for a move to another network. I duly received a letter "We hate to say goodbye" saying that I have until 3rd February to use the PAC and also stating "If you don't use your PAC, your mobile number will carry on working with Vodafone as before." So far, so good.

I have just found a new deal and haven't used my PAC yet. Today, my phone is showing "SIM Card Registration Failed." Odd. I therefore checked my Vodafone online account - no bills are now showing, it gives me the option to register (I have been using it for twelve months).

I phoned CS and she claims that my account is now closed as requested after 30 days notice. I requested a PAC and I haven't used it yet! She claimed that the account can be closed before the PAC is used (after 30 days), and the PAC can still be used until 3rd February as stated in the letter (even though the phone number now doesn't work).

Is this normal? I have used PACs many times over the years and never had this before - if you don't use it, it usually expires and your contract continues (as you cannot give notice and request a PAC - using the PAC is what is required to end the contract)?

Many thanks

I've never come across that before, but Voda are a little odd where pac's are concerned.

... and to make today perfect, I have now given the PAC to T-Mobile and as the transfer team don't work weekends, and it takes 2 working days, I am now without my number until Wednesday.

    Thank you Vodafone
