  • really? if you are on benefits you get a Christmas bonus? Sorry if i sound a bit off but surely that cant be right?!
Would you want to give up your job (I assume you have one) to live on a few pounds a week? I certainly wouldn't.

It'd help people a lot more people in worse financial situations such as those on JSA/ESA who are a lot worse off than you are weekly.

But those on DLA generally have extra costs. And isn't ESA more than IB?

    It's only £10.

According to the site quoted by savemoney above they get it if they're on contribution-based ESA.

What's the problem. Benefits claimants deserve a bonus for all the hard work and meaningful contributions they make to society. They are the most unappreciated section of society.

yeah that makes sense because incapacity was contributions based.

The rates for long term IB and ESA with the work related activity component are the same but if someone on IB has the higher age addition it can be higher than ESA.
  • My husband is on IB and he got his in December I think.

Whilst very grateful, I personally don't see any need for a Christmas Bonus at all.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
