Was the £10 Christmas Bonus for those on qualifying benefits paid in Dec. 2009, or did I read somewhere that they had stopped paying it?

It is only £10 so I don't think people go crazy with their spending because of it!0 -
I'm on CA and I received mine in early December.0

It would be almost double that - £95.25 to be exact. When the Christmas Bonus was first introduced in the 1970s it was paid at the equivalent of the full weekly amount of basic State Pension at the time - £10. It just hasn't been increased since then. You get Xmas bonus on certain benefits, its only £10 it hasnt gone up for donkeys years if it had it be more like £50 now
Ireland introduced the same Christmas Bonus a year later and continues to link it to the full amount of their State Pension. At £10 the UK Christmas Bonus is now something of a joke.0 -
Actually Ireland has stopped the bonus altogether. They announced it in late 2009 the bonus would no longer be paid. In other words the Irish Government was broke and could no longer afford it. They got an extra full two weeks benefit at christmas on top on the normal week.0
