New web contract being foisted on me - HELP!

Just received a letter from Pipex saying they're putting everyone on the same contract from March 1 - 8Mb internet plus anytime calls for £18.98 a month.
Fine for some people but fairly pointless for me since I can't get better than 1.2 Mb through my phone line and almost never make daytime calls.
I am happy enough with my existing deal of about £12 for net and weekend/evening phone calls - but this letter seems to indicate that everyone will be put on this "standardised" deal.
What can I do to get out of it? Can I just cancel my direct debit? I suppose this could be considered breach of contract but is their changing of the contract terms against my wishes not also breach of contract?
I have tried the Consumer Direct website but without success.
Any advice?
