Where is my water meter?

I have a water meter, but I don't know where it is!
I have been sent an estimated bill (my first bill since moving into the property), which seems to be a fair assumption of my usage so I have paid it. However, on enquiring with the water company I have been given details which do not make sense.
Would it be fair to ask the water company to send a reader out to read my meter? I would be more than happy to do it if I am shown where it is...!

what sort of property do you live in
it's usually where the main water supply enter your property
maybe under the sink, in the garage depends upon the property
meters fitted recently will usually have cable and a small black circular monitoring point so the meter reader can read the thing without accessing the house0 -
If it's an older house your in that has had the meter fitted, it may be under the sink where the stop tap is. A new build is probably outside maybe on the kerb or in your garden, often only a small grid to look behind.
Knock and ask one of your neighbours if their water is on a meter and where is it.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Surely the water company knows where it is and will tell you. If built since 1980 its probably on the pavement where the outside stop tap is. But as others have said maybe under the sink or wherever the supply enters the propertyYou're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0

The meter sits under the drive, I have requested a location and they have given me the following:
"RH inn drv 2 of 6 lr"
I have asked for an explaination but they cannot tell me any more than the above. It is not in the property, so must be in a manhole in our driveway - however there are about 10-15 manholes (long drive) and I cannot get them up - most look like they have not been lifted for years.
The estimated bill was a fair assumption, so I have paid this for now. I would like to use an accurate meter reading on my next bill, which is due in July. I am quite happy to supply my own readings but I need to be shown where the meter is!Self confessed nerd when it comes to anything financial and/or numerical! :cool:0 -
RH inn drv 2 of 6 lr"
Right hand (side or in?) drive 2 of 6 left from right
You are not looking for a man hole cover, you are looking for something that looks like a CD case. It can be lifted by hand or with a screwdriver in the slot (please be careful though)
If you can not locate it then ask your water company to show you, make sure you have a telephone number on your account and they can then call you and make an appointment.
