Anyone swopped from BT to Primus?

Having seen (MSE) that you could save a couple of quid a month by changing from BT to Primus I went and gave it a go 26 Jan 2010 and called them I was told all would be taken care with and I would receive and welcome package soon. My BT contract was to finish 17th Feb and they would take care of it for me. An email arrived 1st feb confirming an account number.
Today I received my BT bill with no sign of my account termination.
I called Primus and they said that I should call BT to cancel my account with them, BT now say that I have automatically sign into a further years contract having not cancelled ..... Well done Primus you have cost me money not saved me anything !!! waste of time and having to go to the bank to cancel the direct debit that is set up! Better the devil you know??????

Unfortunately regardless of what the new supplier tells you, it is your responsibility to make sure that the pre-existing supplier contract is cancelled. The new supplier can say they'll do it for you, but the repsonsibility remains yours.

Do you not have online banking set up? You can cancel DDs with most online banking systems, but it's always worth a letter to your bank to ask them not to allow the supplier to set it up again and start taking more money.

I swapped from BT to Primus 2 years ago and I've been very happy with their service and bills!
