Just in case anyone is looking to get out to Thailand/Singapore or anywhere else in SE Asia, you can get some great prices, with a little tweak! Hong Kong return is coming in at £300 return, but if you select the multistop option from the original screen, and fly to Hong Kong, but return from Bangkok or Singapore, it still comes in at £302. All you need is one connecting flight from Hong Kong to Thailand/Singapore, which you can get with the low cost carriers for £37.50!!
So, Singapore/Bangkok return for £340, if you don't mind a stop in Hong Kong.
Seems to work for all of November onwards right through until April next year, but there are some bargains in September as well, just takes more searching.0 -

Can anyone suggest a low cost carrier from HKG to Bali please. I want to go back from 27/12 till 11/01 and LHR to HKG is £325, but Bali is £700+0 -
I've been looking into this myself, and there are soo many options some a lot simpler than others...
First of all, it is quite expensive to travel direct from Hong Kong, the only low cost carrier being JetStarAirways that will take you to Jakarta for £180 return. From Jakarta you can get an AirAsia flight for £5 each way direct to Bali. Or fly to Singapore, and then straight to Bali with the same airline (JetStarAsia) for much the same price. TOTAL COST £525.
Then there is Dragon Air and Cathay Pacific, but these work out way way more.
The alternative is to fly from either Schenzhen or Macau, both only a 45 minute ferry away from Hong Kong. From these two airports, you can get to any of Kuala Lumpar (£75 return, Air Asia), Singapore (£100, Tiger Air). As soon as you're at these airports you are on the AirAsia trail, which can get you to anywhere in Indonesia for around a £10 each way! TOTAL COST via KL £440 + ferry to Macau!
I've been looking into this myself for September, but really can't decide whether to do Malaysia, Bali, or Borneo! Thay all work out aroud the same cost in flights via Hong Kong.
Hope that helps!0 -
Forgot to add a link to this website, very useful for this kind of information...
Its best assett is that you don't have to search for a specific route, you can just plug in as little or as much info as you want, like dates/airports etc. It ill then list all the destinations you can go to in ascending price order.
It covers a lot of international low cost carriers, but not all. It is also good just letting you know all the airlines that operate from a certain airport/route. From the home page, put in the departure airport and you will see just below in small print a list of airliens that (a) it shows prices for and (b) other scheduled airlines that operate from that airport/on that route.

Tried for my travel dates (above) and it comes in at over £800!0 -
What part of the trip is pushing up to that price? Which airline? I thought I put your dates in and got the numbers I quoted. heading out now, but will have alook when I get back - still got to get mine finalised so will take a look later tonight.0

I think our wires are crossed! I was referring to your quoted £340 fare. I'm afraid we do not want multiple changes of aircraft and airline, with extra hanging about, such as the Macau or Jakarta options. A simple change at an intermediate place would be OK though. So it would seem that LHR -KUL return would be best, with onward flights to DPS on JetStar. Sin and BKK are just too expensive.
Thanks for your advice.0 -
I couldn't book as I couldn't confirm holidays until today
Will such cheap flights come along again?0 -
Damn, think I've missed this great offer. If anyone knows of any dates that are still at this cheap price, please post them here as I am more than willing to go to New York whenever
Great find OP - hopefully more cheap flights will come along soon.0
