Thought this would be great and that I would book up a trip to NY for wife's brithday in September. For two of us the cheapest is £900!!!
Will buy her something else instead now.
Glad some people have got a great deal though

I'm quite sure the £173 was Pre-Wednesday..there's no cheap US deals, only Asia and (to some extent) the Caribbean.

I think the super-cheap offer is finished now. Checked last night and our £883 booking would cost about £1,450 today! Even more big thanks to the OP now! :D

  • I was so lucky, I was reading this thread on the night the offer was due to finish so booked 2 tickets, Manchester to New York in September for under £400 - chuffed to bits! Thanks again to the OP, we were planning on going to New York in September anyway so perfect!

I've never booked a holiday before, online or by any other means... has anyone sorted thier accomodation for thier trip yet? maybe point me in the right dirrection of something approx £80 per night?

    Thanks in advance!

Lucky to all those who managed to get this great deal. Came back from holiday yesterday and wanted to book my trip to NY in September. Now the cheapest fare is £302...

You'll struggle to find something decent in NY itself for that kind of price. I would start by using Expedia.com or laterooms.com then check out some of the US internal room finder websites.

I had great success in NYC booking hotels with https://www.priceline.co.uk on their 'name your own price' service. They only use big name hotels like Marriott and Radisson etc. so you never get a dump. We paid about £80 and got the Roosevelt Hotel right near Grand Central as seen in the (quality) film 'Maid in Manhatten' starryng J-Lo! http://www.theroosevelthotel.com

Basically, you name your star rating required, what part of Manhatten (midtown etc - don't worry, it shows you a map of the areas) Then name your price BUT, you have to commit to buy by entering your card details. There's no backing out. However, if your price is not accepted you can raise your price or lower your star rating.

It's a bit of a gamble but it's quite exciting waiting for the decision email and finding out where you're staying. Was miles cheaper than booking in the normal way.

Oh, and if they don't accept your offer you don't pay anything. Oh and one last edit, with the $ so weak at the moment, £80 is alot more likely to be accepted than it did when I went a couple of years ago!
