Broaband New Users - Fantastic Saving

I think I have found a fantastic off for those currently without Broadband and plan on getting it soon. Not sure if this has been mentioned before so apologies if so.

Virgin has an current offer where for free they will pay the cost of your line conversion. As there is no minimum 12 month contract with Virgin, once you have stayed for one moth you can give notice and leave.

Which means you can then be free to go for the much cheaper provider Metronet (circa £11 per month). If you went with Metronet straight off you have to pay £110 to have your line conversion. This way you can get that done for free with Virgin, then leave and reap the saving with Metronet.

Remember, you have to apply to apply by Jan 19th. Hope this is useful.

NB: I have quickly browsed the Virgin T&Cs and it seems to me there are no ‘cancellation charges’ stopping the above. However may be good for someone with a legal mind to brisk through, just to make double sure.

Metronet charge £17 transfer fee. (If you don't transfer then their set up fee is £59.53 not £110)

You only have to give 30 days notice to Virgin.
  • Thanks. Still a saving of of £93 then. Good stuff.

I agree the Virgin offer is/was very good, and I was about to sign up with them until one of the forum members who has just signed with them discovered that they are now using Data-Stream and not IP-Stream, which means that you cannot migrate to another company, and will have to pay an activation fee with a new ISP. Great shame :-/

Hello Cheers, This is a bit like the blind leading the blind my trying to explain the difference between the two ::) all I know is that I am now NOT gooing to sign up with Virgin because of it. Take a look at this thread, people that know what they are talking about explain it very well.
