FloGas over 60p LPG price - Is this legal?

I've been with FloGas for several years and receive regular letters explaining that due to the current global fuel situation the price of my LPG has to increase. Interestingly, they hardly ever mention what the actual price is in the letter. After receiving another letter a few weeks ago my wife phoned them to ask what price we were paying. I was astonished to discover that they are charging me just over 60p/ litre (I understand that the current marketprice is around 38p). I realise I can switch and I will be doing that asap (or getting rid of LPG altogther).I'm shocked at this rip off but will sort it out. I am more concerned that there must be many more old and vunerable people in this situation who will never enquire and perhaps don't know the market rate. I think that this practice should be illegal - Does anybody know if it is ? I will be contacting trading standards next week -- Absoloutely shocking that a company can charge 150% of the market rate and try to keep the price quiet

It is absolutely terrible that Flogas are banking on peoples complacency or vulnerability.
Just phone around Badboy and check prices in your area.
Countrywide have just put their price up to 33.5p pl + vat.

I also had mine increased to 60.75p/Litre last week but when I complained they told me they would reduce it to 42p on a 2yr contract.0

This is below cost price for Flogas and would only be given to you if you use over 18 tonnes each year.0 -
I use 2500 litres a year.0

Hi BadBoy8, i am having the exact same problem, currently 53.69 but rising a further 8.5 pence per litre this month, [April].
They made a delivery without informing us of the rise in price, which, i "think" breaks the contract i have with them until 08.10.10
If anyone else has any info it would be very welcome as i am sure we are not the only ones having this problem.
I have contacted my local trading standards office, currently awaiting a reply.
Spoke to Calor and they are offering me 38.5 per litre. which makes a mockery out of their new price of 62.19.
Cheers

our propane is at 42p for domestic customers (the highest it has ever been), we are expecting that to drop to about 30-34p over the summer.
Smarthead01, do you think the price will still go down this summer ?

I had a visit from flogas as most of the customers where I live where switching to calor gas and now flogas has dropped there price from £92.00 back to the same as calor gas at £85 for two 47Kg bottles we only live on an old age pension and have no option other than electric to heat our home, as through the winter it was costing over £170 for a month for gas. Will have to change to electric I think or freeze.0
