.....
It occurred to me today that whilst I use Street View religiously when there is coverage to check out a hotels the location, the immediate vicinity, the type of neighbourhood, parking, etc and to get a feel for a place..... I don't recall seeing it referenced on here?

Funnily enough, I don't think I've ever used it in a response either, however with more and more of the world being covered, I will be using it from now on.

I use it for checking out prospective places to go- but then I do research things to within an inch of their lives...
It is a really useful tool.

Yep..... I'm just suprised it doesn't get mentioned, including by myself.creased-leach wrote: »It is a really useful tool.
I sat and typed a whole diatribe the other day about the area around the Hilton Singapore, when all I had to do was provide a link to 581 Orchard Road.

I have been using it (especially around London) before I do a site visit on construction projects.
Very good for getting a feel for a place.0 -
It's great when trying to explain to others what you mean - "a picture is worth a thousand words"0

Just remember that the images may not be the most up to date, however I always use the facility, if possible, before I book any hotels to get a feel for the area.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

Yeah. I went around a friends' house a few weeks ago and couldn't follow his directions. He did mention this street, that place, etc. I found that by googling his address, I could find it by looking out for streets around where he lives.Sealed pot challenge #232. I used it last year to check out just how 'close' things were to the hotels I was looking at in Orlando. I'm a bit more clued up going this year but couldn't resist having a wee look at the hotel anyway;)0

I use it as preparation for attending a job interview - the last thing I want is to be wandering around an unfamiliar location looking for a specific address (office block, whatever) when I'm nervous, stressed, and poshed-up-to-the-nines.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

I have been on numerous "virtual walks" around Peguera (Majorca) this winter using street view. It makes this long, cold winter more bearable to know that in a few months I will be walking the same streets in person and in sunshine!!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
