But its almost 75% of my take home pay not including tax credits etc and I already pay 3 times my normal monthly payment. We shall see. If it takes till end on 2012 then so be it. I can try though. Aim high :D

Thats a lot of take home pay, :) and the end of 2012 has a nice sound to it

  • Evening all - Hope you are all well.

Not a lot going on in MOOC towers at the moment. I am sat watching one of the new Miss Marple programs I recorded over Christmas. Its payday on Friday (yippee) first full one for quite a few months. My back is still painful. Infact the doc gave me some stronger painkillers last time I went to see her. They are so strong they came from the controlled drugs cabinet along with some anti sickness pills. I havent been brave enough to take them yet

I have a decision to make. Over the last year I have managed to save £1500 in a rainy day instant access account. I was appaulled when I saw the interest that was added. After tax I received a grand total of 50 pence  So I am now thinking of paying half of it of the mortgage as it will be working harder for me that way but I also need some rainy day money so what shall I do ??

    Enjoy the evening everyone

    MOOC xx

  • Hey mooc
    good to see ya! :)
Hope that your back sorts itself soon- horrible to have to deal with - lets hope either you dont have reason to use the stronger painkillers or if you do they work wonders!!
I know what you mean about the savings and can understand wanting to pay it off the mortgage ...my question tho would be what are likely to be/could be the things you might need it for (eg, boiler, car repairs , etc..) if redundancy were to strike would you be likely to get a payout that would last for a bit and are there any other insurances that would cover living costs in an emergency? or if you were to pay it into mortgage could you get it back if you needed?
enjoy your miss marples- and yay to payday! :)
  • Thanks TYO

Have been waiting since November to have a series of steroid injections on my spine. I had them 2 years ago and they worked wonders till I slipped at work. I have had back problems on and off for the last 15 years caused by a work accident.

If I pay the cash into the mortgage we cant get the money back, its just 50p in interest is an insult, I haven't been with my employer for 2 years yet so there would be no pay out there.

    Back to Miss Marple.
