'I hate it when taxi drivers give me blank receipts' blog discussion

If the cab has a visible meter you could take a photo of the amount on your mobile to have as back up if the receipt gets queried or print it off and stick/staple it to the receipt instead of writing anything.
You would think they would have a gadget to print off the receipt connected to the meter in this day and age.[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]

Please don't take offence at this Taxi 73, but I need to add something.
Having worked in several places where people had to write cheques (in the olden days) I was often very surprised by the same people saying 'I've forgotten my glasses, could you fill it in for me?' every week. And I never saw them wearing glasses anyway.
Not everyone is lucky enough to be literate. It doesn't mean they're stupid, just that they slipped through the net early on in life. If that's the case, driving a taxi in a city you know really well is one of the ways open to earn a living, and there aren't many other ways left. And those people most certainly won't be commenting on this Forum.Better is good enough.0 -

I guess he assumed I was drunk, as many people are at the time, although I wasn't.
All black cabs have to have a tariff of fares on display so that the customer can see them.If you look at these it would show if you had been overcharged.
Just ask them to point the tarriff out to you.0 -

I have read and reread this and am not quite sure of the point you are making.
I'm understanding that you suspect that the clients you used to serve may have been illitereate and this is why they asked you to write the cheque out which you did.
Are you saying that the reason cabbies don't fill a receipt out is because they may be illiterate?
If you are then you are very much off the mark there as to be able to drive a taxi nowadays you have to have a BTEC and an NVQ in transporting passengers. These qualifications covers a lot of laws ie disability discrimination act, health and safety, licensing laws etc etc...the list goes on and on.
This is hardly something an illiterate can pass...
I repeat again I'll always give a fully written or printed one when the customer asks or a blank with my car number and sig on.0 -

Thanks Black taxi for backing that up for me.It's always nice to have another person in the trade to back things up as licensing is pretty standard across all councils.0

Hope you have a good take over the weekend.
Hope the builder isn't too dodgy and does a good job for you.0 -
As a cab driver i fill in most of the receipts, it only take a few secs and most people are fine with this. If they want a higher price on it the i'll give them a generic receipt so as not to use the company logo.0
