Carphone Warehouse cancellation

  • All very interesting read guys, I am going through very similar issues. I was told to move to PAYG as the best way of ending a monthly billed account. Was happy to do so, but am still getting bills; despite conversation after conversation to the various departments. Part of the issue is the one department I need to speak to don't take calls. And, the Loyalty team are unable to resolve anything. I don't mind have a PAYG account but wish they would cancel the monthly bills.

It would seem email and letter writing are best options. Which I will try - can anyone share an email address?

With this company the only way is to stand firm. Send a letter stating that the number was (how do you know it actually IS by the way?) converted to a PAYG and demanding they refund the overcharge for a contract which has ended and stop taking further direct debit payments. When they start playing those sort of games close the door and keep a record of everything or you will get no-where - which is usually their intention.
  • I used to work for CPW and i've seen this type of thing before.

Go into your local store and explain the scenario to them and ask them to have a look in your customer notes to the approx time you sent the letter and enquire if there was a note enter in "corrispondence recieved" or something like that. Sometimes they would have put that into the notes. If they have, ask for a "personal information request" (i think its £10) to have all the notes on you sent out.

In store thats gonna be all they can do, as they have very little power on thinks and unfortunately if you even get them to ring for you, it'll do you no good.
