    Hi Hotcookie,

There's an earlier thread that should help so I've added your post to it to keep the ideas together.

I have the same problem with OH's pillows but its hydaulic oil which absolutely refuses come out. Tried nappisan, Oxy, Stardrops, Bleach, sunlight, 80 degree wash (pure white cotton pillowcases), bio powder, nothing even fades it so my lovely pure Egyptian cotton John Lewis bed linen ended up as dusters :(

I still don't have a solution, we are stuck buying dark blue, black or brown bed linen which I absolutely hate

I've now started using 2 pillows for Mr Twit and convinced him to move the 'nice' matching pillow to the side and sleep on the one in the cheapo pillowcase. I bleach my white bedding and still his look grubby I do try and change his sleeping one a couple of times a week.

I would agree with those who are advocating a hot wash - but with mixed fibres there is always the (maybe slight) risk of shrinkage.
Having said that I prefer to wash bedding on 60 degrees, alternating with 30 degrees for the sake of the environment and our leccy bills. The hot wash is, in my experience, not only a more efficient remover of grubbiness (as opposed to actual stains, some of which set hard under hot conditions), but heat also helps prevent the 'charity shop' smell which bedding otherwise eventually acquires.
I'm glad the marvellous Stardrops worked its magic (again!) and the OP's pillow cases have improved... sorry to hear about Floyd's hyraulic oil though. Have you tried a few drops of neat eucalyptus oil on the stains, especially when fresh? My mum used this oil (bought at chemist) when we went caravanning and someone always got black oil stains on clothing from climbing over the tow bar. Nowadays I use about 3 drops of eucalyptus oil in with washing powder for bedding - it comes out with a marvellous fresh smell, and I suspect it helps with breathing at night as it's also an ingredient in decongestant drops, though at a much higher concentration of course. Do store it carefully, though, as it's poisonous if swallowed.
Off to get the bedding in the wash now, I was going to do it anyway, yes honestly, I really was!

Sounds like a good solution to me! I would be tempted to see if he's happy to sleep with a towel over his pillow too!

I wondered if anyone on this thread could help please?
I can't get tomato stains out of teatowels and as we get through a lot of both I have a collection of manky-looking but otherwise clean teatowels!
By tomato I mean bolognese sauce, pasta sauces and the like.
    TIA.

Thanks all, i soaked it in bio washing liquid, some washing soda, then added some bleach (for luck :D) left for a bit, shoved all in the washing machine and washed on a hot wash with bio liquid and the soaking liquid. And its clean YAY

(dread to think what will happen to my skin after all the bio washing liquid, but did do an extra rinse programme so fingers crossed!
Also ironed pillowcases with some spray starch so fingers crossed all round :)
