Help cleaning pillowcases

Has your OH got dark hair? Mine has and his pillow gets stained very quickly, no matter how often he washes his hair. I change his pillowslip every 4/5 days (I buy bedding from Ikea, where you get 4 pillowslips with each duvet double/kingsize cover) so the stain doesn't get too bad! Any biological washing powder gets rid of it, even on 40 degree wash."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

Ahhh, grotty man pillows  they're lovely aren't they?
I wash hubby's white shirts and the bedding in bio powder at 60 degrees though I have been known to chuck cheaper bedding and his shirts in at a 90 degree wash. I wouldn't do it with the Dorma bedding but the Asda stuff is cheap enough.Just run, run and keep on running!0 -

Hi, as far as I know its a sort of stain remover for nappies
Will be found in the baby isle I guess0 -
Just to update you all, I soaked the pillowcase in stardrops and then did a wash and it's definitely improved so am going to try that everytime I wash it and hopefully it will go away eventually. I saw spray on starch for 99p when I was in town. Is that a good price or should I be able to get it cheaper?0

Sounds like a good price to me - I just bought some in Boots and paid just over £1 (I think!!)0

Hi,
My dogs sleep on pillows in pillowcases and they are mucky pups! I soak the pillowcases in Vanish (oxi thingy) for a few hours or even overnight and they come up clean after a wash at 40 degrees (if really badly stained I do use 60 degrees - maybe they won't last as long -).
Sparkly0 -
Much as I prefer to use vinegar, soda for loads of things - and now have stardrops which is brill - a multi-tasking product, sometimes it has to be the oxycleaner stuffy. Good soak in extremely hot water for 30 mins, then in machine. If sensitive skin, give another couple of rinses in machine.
Worked for me when I had to plaster myself from head to foot with creams due to bad exzema.0 -

Sorry to those of you who wondered what Napisan is. I haven't visited this thread since I posted.
I believe Napisan is something that was used on cotton nappies (for those of us who can remember having terry cotton nappies). I bougt mine in Australia but I expect you can get something similar. It is in powder form and I tend to soak T-towels and sometimes stained cutlery as well. I find it 'friendlier' than bleach although I expect it does contain bleach.
I have also been told that Bold powder works the same way but I have never tried that.0 -
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has any tips to get my OH pillowcase back to sparkly white-has that sort of greasy yellowish tinge to it that I haven't got out with hot washes, line drying, washing soda and various other things.
Bought some bio liquid (use non bio as have sensitive skin) would soaking it in warm water and bio liquid for a bit before washing get it out? Does anyone have a fail safe tip?
Thanks0
