Walls and Richmond have a lot less meat content than some of the premium sausages. Have you considered asking how sausages are cooked, are they grilled, deep fried or shallow fried? I only buy sausages from M&S or the buthcers now/ M&s are 99p a pack for 8 with a 70%+ meat content and they are either grilled or cooked in the oven with no added fat/oil if i already have something on the go.

  • good cheap & sausage dont really go together

when i was training, one of the 1st pieces of advice i got was
buy a little of something good rather than a lot of something cheap

    Tesco do nice Bratwurst sausages
and i would buy good sausage, cook, slice, and wang in a casserole with lots of veggies

you cannot beat butchers for good sausages
    not cheap, but worth it

I always buy gluten free sausages (OH is coeliac) and, because these arn't bulked out with rusk etc (usually just meat and seasoning) they are usually very tasty and don't lose much fat

Any Cumberland sausages are always lovely.
  • I would recomend The Black Farmer ones, they are a premium sausage and i recall they have 90%+ meat content. Failing that Debbie & Andrews are also very good, they hae 97& meat.

Westaways sausages have been our family's favourites for years.....particularly the Honey Roast ones.

(I don't know if they are only available in the West Country though)

We stay away from low meat content, look for 80%+
