This is the real downside. If your mobile number means a lot to you, given that all big networks have unstoppable bureaucracy in place, I wouldn't want to trust any forum member's view on this. You need to seek info from the networks. But it looks like you may be cancelling a contract that, by the time it is processed through mobiles.co.uk and then the network, has your mobile number associated with it, thereby losing your number.
yes, i realise this is a risk. the porting people at vodafone seemed quite sure that i could get my PAC, but it didn't occur to me till afterwards that the contract would already be cancelled at that point. perhaps they transfer my number onto a PAYG SIM or something?0 -
what a company! as soon as i inform them of my intention to cancel and request a returns number to be set up, they stop replying to my emails! from a reply within 2-3 hours, to no reply at all. very, very dodgy company indeed.
i feel fairly sure that as i have informed them of my intention to cancel within the 7 days, I am still within my rights to cancel, even if they play silly !!!!!!s and stop replying in order to try to obstruct me. i expect a reply on the 8th day telling me "oh, well, it's too late to cancel now, you should have let us know sooner!"

Is it not 7 "working days" to return within...
Regardless - you can try to get through to them on the phone number 01923 804444.
The ported number - if the port has gone through, I think you could request the pac code from vodafone (to take the number with you once you have returned the phone).
If the port has not happened, then tell vodafone to cancel it or your current provider might be able invalidate or something (if you ask for pac code again).0 -

They must tell you in writing, or in another durable medium, if they want to cancel. This includes letter, fax or email. A phone call is not enough unless you say in your terms and conditions that you will accept cancellations by phone.

The Distance Selling Regulations make it clear the date of cancellation is taken from the date you inform them:

Quite correct with the DSR's however the phone is "faulty" which brings in the SOGA which gives the OP more time than the 7 days !It's not just about the money0
