End Of Contract: Wanted to Stay But Been Messed About

I have now neared the end of my contract, been with BT BB for 3 years now. Been really happy with the service but now I am fed up.

I called 2 days ago asking for a similar deal to the one I had this year. (£3 off option 1 and some freebies). I was tol,d when I called that "the systems were down" and could someone call me back? I said ok and waited. Unsurprisingly no-one called me back.

I have just tried calling back (using the option for leaving or getting MAC code) and have been holding for 15 minutes with no answer. Tried again, another 15 minute wait then was cut off! I am now just fed up with them and just want a MAC code to go elsewhere.

Can you request this by email or has it got to be done via phone?

    Their systems really were down yesterday, I tried to set up as a new customer and they couldn't help me. I got through ok very early this morning but I think they've now got a backlog of work which is why the queues are so bad.

    I do need to talk to them so I'm going to try again this afternoon.

    It was Wednesday I called them but I just always view the systems are down line with scepticism as I was fed exactly the same line last year at renewal time!

    It seems you can get this online;

    http://bt.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/bt.cfg/php/enduser/cci/bt_adp.php?p_sid=&p_faqid=9778&cat_lvl1=346&p_cv=1.346&p_cats=346

    Moving to another service provider from BT

    If you need to request a MAC from BT, the quickest way is to contact us on 0800 328 6738 to speak to one of our MAC team specialists or alternatively you can submit your request online. Your MAC will be issued within 5 working days.

    I also phoned yesterday and their systems were down; back up by 5pm when I called again and managed to get sorted. Need to try again later though.
