Why so many used cars with low mileage?

I have a number of friends who work for VW locally. They have a good company car scheme, they can have 2 cars and they get changed every 6 months. Would guess they'd have that sort of mileage on them.
Generally very well looked after though. Now proud Mumto3 :j0 -

If they are asking £12k as you suggest for that car walk away, brand new 59 plates are only £11,600.
Could you point us to where a brand new 5 door golf is £11,600?
List price is almost £16K.0 -

Rows of 1.4S five doors all one year old and with < 15K miles (as is the case anyway in my local stealers anyway) would indicate ex hire / fleet cars, rather than ex dealer staff cars.0 -
Best thing to do is ask where they have come from. I recently purchased an ex mobility car for the OH, 2 1/2 years old, showroom condition (mobility fix all faults before passing on) only 9000 miles.
At least you know these cars have been properly serviced, and you will find the retention value of the second hand golf is much higher than if you were to buy a new polo.0 -
I suppose. Even if has the 15,000 miles in one year, it still has 2 years left on the warranty and servicing at the official dealership. At least you have some come back that you wouldn't if buying privately.0

Perhaps the price of petrol has something to do with cars having lower miles on the clock. I think 15000 miles in one year is not low." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Complete contradiction there.0 -
One of our local Vauxhall dealers has a number of VW 14S year or 2 old on there. I think they have them spread over all their branches by the looks of it. All ex lease. It always seems to be the 14S they have.0
