I went about 5pm, just as they were labelling up some whoopsies. there were some good bargains, especially fish, so i picked up a few extra bits.:)

this is the first time i have found a decent choice of whoopsies in our Mr S. i have been popping around 7.30 and not had much luck, think i will try going in around teatime again!

  • good morning everyone,

well the banana and walnut muffins passed inspection yesterday although I had another one later on just to make sure.

I am having pork chops for dinner today. Just serving them with some fresh veg and gravy. They are huge, so think there may be some pork left for tomorrow. May use it up with some chinese noodles.

Still trying to work my way through some of my stores and I think I am starting to make progress, however still have quite a way to go.

Have a problem with empty space in my food cupboards/freezer. Have always had a compulsion to fill them to bursting. Think I inherited this from my mother.
It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!

  • Morning all!
    Just reporting yesterday's spend in Mr T's - a total of £55:eek:
I did stick to the list - just must have been an expensive list - it did include laundry stuff and toiletries that only get bought a couple of times a month, but still....

I'll update the total in a minute but I think it's damage limitation for next week now, hmmmmm

Been to Asda this morning but the chinese banquet meal I had planned on getting was noticable by it's absence, but did manage to pick up a few woopsies. So now have a chicken in the slowcooker, not for meal plan meals but cos it is nice to have cooked chicken in for quick meals and sarnies. Also got tw packs of stewing beef which is handy as I used the last pack in my freezer yesterday to batch cook beef stew.

rated OH to some decent OJ, he told me not to buy him any when his Tropicana ran out but he really enjoys it.

Sailing close to the wind with the budget this month, but have plenty in so just need to keep out of the shops:D

I am doing good! We pretty much ate from the freezer this week and only needed a pack of pullups for DD during the week. I made a nasi goreng for myself last night and used quite a bit of veg from the freezer which was good. And little bits of things are getting used up, while I can finally see shelf space in a few of the cupboards.

I was just putting together a meal list for the next few days on the other thread, and I really only need to buy fruit and veg, 2 steaks, perhaps 3 lamb chops or some fish, bread, milk, and dunkers to see us through this week again.

I may even get organised to make a quiche - um, smoked salmon and leek perhaps (salmon in freezer from special last summer) - oh, and Tues is pancake tues, so I will be changing that menu plan. But I could actually get away with just buying steaks for a nice romantic dinner Sat, and not needing to buy any other meat for the rest of the week and all of next weekend too.

And my boss has agreed to me using most of my remaining leave in early March (leave year ends at end March), so I will probably take a trip to Mr. S, or maybe even Mr. A (I don't think there's a Mr. M within easy reach) up around Newry direction on one of those days. So totally restock the cupboards then (which would blow the budget for the month - but then again, I am also running an annual tracker so I should still be good overall).
Thanks , just reminded me I have a pastry case and some cheese in the freezer which with the onions I have roasted off in the oven this morning are now baking as a quiche for lunch tomorrow.

I am so much the same as you, I was laughing as i read this!!!:rotfl:

I find myself compelled to buy things when they are on special offer, even if i already have stacks of them! My most recent one was baked beans... I already had a stock of about 10 tins, but then the branston ones were on offer, two four-packs for £2, which is cheaper than value, so I HAD to buy 24 cans!! Oops!

Last harvest, I gave away loads of things from my store cupboard, and felt really pleased that i could see some of the shelves (they're white, don't think I knew that!), but the next week, i went out and bought stuff to fill them again! Why do i do it?!?!

I'm trying to change slowly, and I think the GC helps, especially when I really stick to my budget. Also, having sorted out every nook and cranny where food is stored helps me to know what i have.
