Faulty microwave or bowl?

I did some pasta n sauce for supper (slummy mummy alert, my back is bad just now :rotfl:). It was mostly cooked so I put it in for 5 more minutes. Just went back to get it out and the handle of the glass bowl was MELTED TO THE SIDE OF THE MICROWAVE!!! It's a Pampered Chef 2L glass jug and has been with me for 3 years, it's solid as a rock and been microwaved hundreds of times before. :A What the heck happened, anyone have any idea? Now I don't know if it's safe to use the microwave. Is this anyone's "fault"? (faulty microwave? faulty jug?) Or do I just need to chalk this up to a freak occurrence?

It looks like the handle got stuck up against the side of the microwave and overheated. User error I'm afraid.
I just had a look on their website, if it's one of those batter bowls, they're supposed to come with 5 year guarantee so it may be worth getting in touch.0 -
How would it get hot enough to melt the glass? It's gotten stuck before with no ill effect, and in any case it shouldn't have gotten stuck really as it WAS going around fine.:money:0

Is the jug supposed to be microwave proof?0

Yeah microwave cleaning isn't high on my priority list.
It is microwave safe, yes.
Also, is the microwave safe to use?:money:0 -
In that case do as I suggested and see if they'll replace it under warranty.

Sorry, hadn't seen that before, we cross posted. If anyone knows about the microwave that would be great.:money:0

The damage indicates that it wasn't going round but was jammed in that position, which just so happens to be the point that the klystron (produces the RF power) outputs into the microwave's bodyThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. So is it just bad luck? It happened to get stuck in just the wrong position? Not the fault of either microwave or bowl in other words? I will call Sharp tomorrow just to ask their opinion and see if I can get a new waveguide at the very least, that one is burnt to heck now as you can see on the pics.:money:0

sorry to seem pedantic but as far as im aware magnetron's are used in microwaves not klystron's as they are an unnecessary upgrade (more expensive due to being able to alter amplitude, frequency etc)?
I may be wrong though and things may have changed but i just understood that klystrons were not actually used in microwaves.Back by no demand whatsoever.0
