and im unable to get them . can not work due to disibility only hubby working in the house. 2 kids to care for.

Not all members of this forum, and possibly some of those offering you advice that you have asked for, are English either. I'll bet you'll find that some are immigrants.

If you have an income coming in from your husband, if you get disability payments of some sort, claim WTC, CTC, get your FB, and possibly CT and HB on top of it if you are a low income family - you'll likely find that you are in fact bringing in more money than somebody who has no employment income and is therefore eligible for free school meals.

By the time you factor in WTC & CTC, you probably get a lot more than 16k per year.
I recieve in total £10.695 a year in WTC CTC and my wage from work i am a single mum so have no other income
  • There are rules to be eligible for the free school meals and unfortunately you are not entitled to the free school meals.

I cannot tell you why the rules were made like that and that's not why this forum is here. If you have a problem with the rules you could always bring it up as an issue with your local MP.

Don't be silly, it is an English right to butcher the English language.

About time that the beautiful English language was taken off these racists and given to people that care for it far more, like myself ;)

I was in that position when I first became a single mother. My wages, tax credits and child benefit were around £10K p.a., but I wasn't entitled to free school meals because I worked and claimed WTC. I thought it was a bit unfair at the time as a low income is a low income regardless of where the money comes from! I wasn't claiming housing benefit as I was paying a mortgage and I didn't claim CTB or mortgage interest payments as I didn't know about either then.

They are currently doing a pilot scheme with free school dinners for all primary school children. All primary children in County Durham and a couple of other counties currently get free school dinners. I'm not sure if/when it will be extended nationally.
Here I go again on my own....
