School Trousers

I bought some M&S school trousers in the summer for ds(when the 3 for 2 offer was on) - they have been kept in the cupboard, until the last growth spurt ! - he has worn them once and the bottom of them is frayed and has 2 holes, I suspect they have caught on the ground BUT would you expect them to be so damaged after one wear. When I looked at his other pair (also worn 1 day) there is slight fraying to the hem on those too, although no where near as bad.
I returned them to out local store who told me it is not a fault and just wear and tear ! Whilst I accept that children can be hard on clothes, I would expect to get more than one days use out of them especially as they cost around £7 (so not the cheap basic one) He has never worn out any trousers before
Spoken to customer services, who say I can send them back to head office for them to have a look at. Is it worth the bother, or do I just accept I need to buy more trousers (From somwhere else !!)
Thanks
Andrea

Kids nowadays do like to wear there kegs low..so the hems do get worn when they trail a long the ground..so it is perhaps wear and tear.0

But would you expect them to wear to holes in one day ? He is 5 so not bothered about wearing them low !!

Take them back and ask for a refund or to have them replaced - trousers shouldn't be falling apart after a few days whether they're for adults or children and it's rubbish for anyone to say otherwise.
I took a pair of my daughter's school shoes back to New Look last week - three months old and splitting apart already. My wife said "well they're cheap shoes meant for children" but I don't agree with that - just because something is cheap that doesn't mean it should fall apart after a few weeks of use.
Never understood people who think like that.

Thats the problem though - I did take them back but they refused to do anything as they just said it was wear and tear.

Who did you speak to in the store?0

Customer services (the normal refund desk) - the lady there also spoke to her Supervisor - we have 2 Marks near us and they both said the same

To be honest I always insist on speaking to the duty manager when I take anything back - have found that people working on the customer services desk or checkouts have a tendancy to fob you off.0

Since when were five year olds permitted to wear trousers to school? At that age they should still be in shorts.0

Remember, it is just your word that they've only been worn one day. I'm sure you're a very trustworthy person, and you don't lie...but they've probably been caught out before - to them, these are several months old.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
