Broadband with Line Rental needing quality/speed
toocan
Im moving into new premises next week and am looking for a supplier(s) for the line rental and broadband.
Unfortunately i cant recieve cable (http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/LCPRE) so im looking for suggestions for the best deal on line rental / broadband.
Speed wise the broadband needs to be as fast as possible as i will be using it for 3 or 4 pcs and some VOIP traffic.

Your speed will be limited by your distance from your local exchange so it's really just down to finding the best deal for the sort of use you require.
It sounds like you may need a fairly high spec package with minimum traffic restrictions and usage limits.
If you can find the line rental bundled then fine but for the quality BB packages this isn't usually an option.0 -
You can get O2 LLU. I personally wouldn't look any further but they won't be doing phone line deals until March(ish) and I don't doubt that BT will want a 12 month contract on the line0

I'd suggest Be or Plusnet.
Be actually have a better fair use policy than O2 - even though it's the same network.
Plusnet is another good option as while they do have 'traffic management' - they prioritise VoIP traffic above everything else with gaming - so VoIP never gets slowed down.
Your exchange is a 'market 3' one too - so you'll get the cheaper Plusnet packages . They also offer the phone line with a free E&W call plan - or pay extra for Anytime calls. Line rental is a bit cheaper than BT too.0 -
just spoke to bt line rental is £15.24 per month (excl VAT) and unlimited broadband with them is £27.50 (excl VAT)
the line rental seems very steep0 -
I thought BT line rental was ~ £11.50 - are you sure you have that right.
BT internet - http://www.dslzoneuk.net/isp_ratings.php say no more.
Regarding Be/O2 - your call but on LLU there is no recorded case of O2 ever enforcing their FUP and they are significantly cheaper than Be - especially with Quidco cashback.0 -
Positive its for a small business... but looking at it residentail prices seem loads cheaper. Is it ok to buy residential products for a business?0

Yes, they're not remotely bothered, but you do have to normally confirm that it is not being used for business purposes when you sign up.
I would imagine that the sole reason for this is that it prevents you coming back and saying that due to your line going down you lost that £1m order, and now want compensation...
The only real difference is that the business tariffs usually have lower contention ratios (20:1 rather than 50:1).No free lunch, and no free laptop
