    Paypal took the cash out of my account and charged me for doing so.

    I was talking about a specific case. :)
    My TV is broken! :cry:
    Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

    I was worse off in that instance, admittedly. But at the time I wasn't even aware someone could do that! Now that I don't accept Paypal from UK buyers, I can't be circumvented like that. If someone's parcel doesn't turn up, they need to contact me to get it sorted out, and neither of us ends up out of pocket, plus the buyer gets cheaper postage.

    I object to being the object of extortion from anyone, even a legitimate institution like the Post Office. Charging a certain amount to deliver post and then charging extra to guarantee it arrives? :rolleyes:

    There is a difference between a refund and losing a chargeback. One more reason to make sure you cover yourself to be able to refund in cases of problems. There is never a need for a buyer to go to chargeback.

    I do agree with you even_steven, by requiring insurance the RM are virtually admitting they have a theft problem. I have never understood how they can get away with accepting post and saying if you want it to definitely get there you have to insure it!

    I had a lot of hassle earlier in the year, mainly due to changing ISP and for a while couldn't accept paypal unless I asked my buyers to cancel their payments and I sent them a payment request. Got it sorted, but I never asked for alternative payments like this guy has. He has revoked on the terms of his auction therefore the transaction is nul and void. Look elsewhere for the PSP and make sure that the seller is well respected with a high feedback and can accept paypal, then if something goes wrong, you wont lose a lot of money.
    I'm back after a break :money:

    I HAVE sent a cheque, because:

    (1) the seller seems very genuine;
    (2) the amount isn't that much; and
    (3) he has 100% perfect feedback.

    I may live to regret it, but it's how everyone bought things on eBay before PayPal came into the equation, and I never lost any money then.

    Update: The goods have arrived. The (obviously just numpty, not dishonest) seller despatched them without waiting for my cheque to clear.

    Trust isn't always a bad thing, even where eBay is concerned. :D
