VW Cam Belt Warranty

You don't have to change it they aren't holding a gun to your head but you would be an idiot not to have it done, if it snaps its going to cost you a lot more than £350 to get it repaired.
Look at other brands and you will find some have longer but a lot have shorter amount of miles before a cambelt is changed. Just because you bought the car brand new doesn't mean you don't have to have it serviced. Most manufacturers list a max mileage and age for the belts. The age is based upon the fact the belt is made of rubber, rubber can perishe over time so even if you only 1k of miles a year it would still ideally need to be changed after 4 years.
TBH maybe you should just sell the car and stick to buses.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

Or buy a car with the Fiat non interference engine andleave it until it snaps.0 -

There are still a few cars which rely on a cam chain, a very sensible (if louder) arrangement, where a duplex or triplex chain is running inside the engine, constantly lubricated, and tensioned automatically.
Oh, the really good part is, that it will not need replacing for at least 150,000 miles, at which time it can be done easily in conjunction with a cylinder head overhaul.
Don't you just love progress?;)
Oh, I did have an Alfa, and they now recommend every 36,000 miles (half the previous figure).0 -

Cam chain is a totally different kettle of fish though we are talking belts heres.
A lot of manufacturers say a cam chain should last the life of the engine.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

But for people getting picky over the life of belts, tensioners or pulleys then knowing about cars with chains is important. Cam chains are the one thing the my daughter's Fox, my wife's Jag and all my bikes have in common. That's for very good reason too.
Yeah I agree but I am merely talking for the purposes of this thread, TBH too much talk of cam chains and the OP is likely to go and ask for his belt to swapped with a chain LMAO.
with all cars you have to factor in the big service items like belts, I had a V6 (3 belts) was quoted £1200 to get them changed along with service and water pump, got it down to £600 in the end, now im running a dirty derv with cam chain and i'm pleased I know I will never have to change it, unless something major happens.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Is the OP aware that it's best practice to change the brake fluid every 2 years? Or haven't they factored that into their finances? The man without a signature.0

They wont have done that! Despite VW sticking a sticker on the drivers door pillar...0

Psot 29 & 30 dont be stupid the OP bought the car brand new a few years ago, when you buy a new car you don't ever have to anything to it thats the rules, its only the peasants who buy used who have to have servicing done, don't you know anything lolEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
