Searching the most played with toys bubs had only cost a couple of Quid from asda maybe you could pick him up 1 each time you have a spare few pounds until you have a little stash. His favorite is a snail that plays tunes and makes animal noises i think it was £4 and that was the dearest of the lot. I have found all his expensive all dancing stuff is collecting dust in the toy box he just wont play with them :-)

  • Searghing - what does he have/like already? What kind of money do you want to spend? Are you after something big or a few little things?

Ikea have a fab bead maze for about £8, which we love :) A big present with out being big £££. As he is a summer baby, maybe a paddling pool/sandpit if you don't have one already? One of my friends has a rocking snail (like a rocking horse, but a snail?!) which the kids all love. No idea where it came from though.

Any tips on brushing babies teeth? Lexi is now at a point where she wants to do it and Im really struggling to do it without causing a big scene, which I dont want to do as I dont want it to become a 'thing'

Sparkle to avoid a scene I would let Katie have a go first but when she handed the brush back I would just say let me do the sides for you (she only brushes her front ones atm) paddy avoided.

I'm just catching up - be back in a bit.

  • And Searching, ditto that he won't know any different if you don't get him much. Plus he will get things from grandparents etc too, so he won't be bored without toys to play with ;) We got Izzy the bead maze, a xylophone and a puzzle (which I had got as a "free" during boots buy 3 and get the cheapest free present thing), so spent about £20 on her.

I think that is why bubs likes his snail it all lights up. His grandparents bought him a funny red bug as well i think that was only a tenner and it has loads of red lights on the top that flash out the alphabet as it sings to you he loves that one as well

  • Re clothes, we are keeping them at the mo. I don't know if they will be worth selling after baby number 2 (whenever that ends up being!) has finished with them, especially since a lot of it was hand-me-downs anyway, so I expect I will donate it somewhere. I might save some of the nice stuff in case anyone in the family has a baby of a suitable gender in the future, but at the moment that isn't looking likely.

If your money is that tight at the minute paying things back, I wouldnt be looking at getting him anything other than a bath toy, or a pair of shoes or something small. He doesnt know any different !!

agree with this SM - J's fave toy is a £2.99 musical bumbelee from B&M - plays with it more than the expensive Lamazee stuff MIL bought
