Ooo - hope V is okay, apparently chocolate buttons are a natural painkiller... There is a doc near me who gives babies 1/2 a choc button before their baby jabs - one of my friends nearly burst a blood vessel when he did it to her 12 week old :eek:

Not an option unfortunately, wanted to do the free swimming which is in the next town over so would be rush hour and take forever.

I'll see if one of my mates could have him and then I'll return the favour.

I could prob have him at MILs (she would be at work) if that's not a bit weird :undecided I won't be offended if you don't trust me!

of course thats not weird! I might take you up on that - gonna put the feelers out with the girls tomorrow to see if they fancy going & one swim the other babysit then swap.

Not a particularly nice topic of conversation for this time of the day, but I had this during my c-section, and oramorph for 48 hours after and I was able to BF straight away. My pain relief in hospital was great, I was in very little discomfort (sorry SS) and up on my feet the same day. My current thinking is that if I go before 40 weeks I would try for a VBAC since that would be very different from my induction at 42wks last time, but if I get to 40wks with no baby, then I would have a planned c-section rather than play the induction waiting game again. GISI - You may have to make your choice at 36 week appointment. If you choose the elective they will then give you a date for section at 38 - 39 weeks. They won't let you go to 40 weeks. But that said if you went into spontaneous labour before the given elective date, (as i did) they will again give you the option to go for an urgent section or VBAC. I suppose if when the elective date came round you could then change your mind again and say you want to wait and try a VBAC, because no one can make you have the section.

I know when I saw my consultant at 36 weeks she was happy to let me go the VBAC route if I wanted and didnt want to do anything other than natural if she could, she preferred this... I was due to see her on the Tuesday bfe DD to discuss further and then William appeared the Sunday before !!!

does anyone know why 'they' do elective c/s 'early'?
I would think (as a random not medically trained person) that it was best to do it as close to due date as poss?

I just think that is so that you don't go into labour. But could be wrong. But obviously no one told Alex this and the impatient booger decided he wanted out anyway.

thats what I assumed, I wonder though if they left it until closer to DD how many women would go into labour before hand (and perhaps more important to 'them' at an inconvenient time aka out of office hours)
